وقال القرضاوي في التغريدة التي قام بحذفها فيما بعد: “لم تعرف مصر طوال تاريخها تفجيرات تستهدف جزءا من المواطنين، إلا في عهود الاستبداد، التي لا توفر الأمن ولا الحرية ولا الحياة الكريمة”، وذلك في إشارة إلى الهجمات التي استهدفت الأقباط.
ثم حذف القرضاوي هذه التغريدة وكتب تغريدة أخرى، قائلا: “ندين كل اعتداء على الأنفس الآمنة، ونؤكد أن هذه الجرائم تتنافى مع الشرائع والأخلاق والأعراف، ولمن قام بها عذاب عظيم”
